The Chicago Tribune is reporting further developments in the case of an accident that left a woman dead and two of her young children critically wounded.
The deceased has been identified as Stephanie Rojas, 26, from Zion, who passed away after she was received by Advocate Condell Medical Center. Authorities have also said that the children in Rojas’ vehicle were her own and that they are in critical condition. They are 6 and 8 respectively.
The accident happened last Friday night. At approximately 6:00 PM, a twenty year old man from Park City was driving near Green Bay Road and Nemesis Avenue in Waukegan. For reasons unknown or not stated, that driver traveled across the center line of the road in a Dodge Durango, striking the Kia Forte Rojas was driving. The two vehicles collided head-on.
The Park City man was received by a local hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
As stated, Rojas was sent to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. It is unclear which hospitals received the children.
Toxicology reports are pending and the accident investigation is ongoing.
