The Shelbyville Daily Union is reporting that a female resident of Shelbyville was put in a hospital with critical injuries as the result of a three vehicle car crash on on Friday.
Authorities say Catherine Hale, a fifty-eight year old Shelbyville resident, was proceeding westbound on Route 16 when she crossed into the eastbound lanes. In so doing, she collided with two vehicles coming in the opposite direction.
The Illinois State Police state that the accident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM. The location was about one half mile east of Shelby County Road 2550E.
One of the vehicles hit was a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by Windsor resident Terry A. Prasun, 60. Another vehicle struck was 2003 Toyota Sequoia driven by Scott R. Pals, 53, of Effingham.
Hale has been cited for improperly using a lane. She was received by a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities say Pals and a passenger, Kelly R. Pals, 51, of Effingham, were received by an area hospital with serious injuries.
