Pedestrian Michael Adams Killed on Pine Street in Irving by Alleged Drunk Driver


From The Journal-News comes a report that pedestrian Michael S. Adams, 51, of Irving, was run down by a car while crossing Pine Street in Irving on Saturday night.

Authorities with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office state that Irving resident Shane M. Green was driving a 1998 Chevrolet south on Pine street when he collided with Adams who was attempting to cross the roadway near the intersection with Franklin Street at approximately 8:50 PM.

Adams was declared deceased at the accident scene at about 9:00 PM.

Green, 20, was taken into Montgomery jail for custody. He faces charges of aggravated driving under the influence, illegally consuming alcohol by a minor, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and illegally transporting alcohol.

The Illinois State Police, the local sheriff’s office, the Hillsboro Area Ambulance Service, and the Witt Fire Department all responded to the accident. The ISP continues to investigate the fatality.
