According to NWI.com, the Munster Police Department continue investigating a Sunday crash in which three family members were mowed down by a speeding car.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:00 PM Sunday as the family were walking with a stroller near Stewart Park in Munster. All three: the father, his five year old son, and his 18 month old daughter, required hospitalization at Munster’s Community Hospital.
Authorities say a car traveling at high speed on Camellia Drive could not negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and hit the family in the process.
Nicholas Heppner-Lundin, a twenty year old resident of Munster, had three passengers in his car, none of whom were injured in the crash.
Although Heppner-Lundin was not taken into custody at the scene, Lt. Ed Strbjak said charges may be filed later if warranted. The investigation into this crash continues, according to police. It is unknown if the police are waiting upon toxicology reports.
