According to ABC7Chicago.com, Janice Gilmore lost her life and three others were injured when a vehicle plowed into them while the group was waiting at a CTA bus shelter.
The accident occurred around 6:25 PM on Tuesday evening. The location was near 94th Avenue and Stony Island Avenue in Calumet Heights.
Authorities say two vehicles were involved, one of which witnesses claims tried to run a stoplight. In trying to do so, that vehicle, a BMW, hit a Chevy at the intersection, causing both vehicles to go out of control, impacting the bus shelter.
Gilmore was 67. Three others were also received by Trinity Hospital for their injuries.
The BMW driver was cited for failing to reduce speed and for driving an uninsured vehicle. The news article did not state the driver’s name.
