According to WSPYNews.com, Christopher Johnson, 21, of Elwood, has been charged with multiple counts in the injury of a passenger who was in a car he was driving when it crashed.

Authorities with the Illinois State Police have charged Johnson with aggravated DUI, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper traffic lane usage.

The single vehicle accident in question happened near midnight on the Route 59 ramp to Interstate 55 in Will County near Shorewood. The ISP states that Johnson lost control of his vehicle, resulting in it going off the roadway.

As a result of the wreck, Johnson’s passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Their name has not been released but the ISP said the passenger suffered serious injuries and is now in a local hospital. There is no report on Johnson’s condition.
