According to WJBDRadio.com, motorcyclist Jerry Clarkson was killed Tuesday evening when a pickup truck pulled out in front of him, resulting in a crash. The location was North Broadway and an alley near the Broadway Tavern. The time was approximately 5:20 PM.
WJBD, quoting the Central City Police, say that an initial investigation reveals that Clarkson was proceeding north on Broadway when a pickup pulled out of the alley, running into him and causing his fatal injuries. The pickup was driven by Centralia resident Thomas Joy.
Clarkson was received by SSM Health St. Mary’s. He died as he was being airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital.
Joy was uninjured but received a ticket for driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident investigation remains open, say the police, and additional charges could be forthcoming.
