Advantagenews.com is reporting that an investigation is ongoing into the crash that left two men dead Sunday evening in Madison County.
The accident between a motorcycle and a van occurred on I-111, also known as Vaughn Road, and Charles Avenue in Wood River.
The Madison County Coroner says that Bradley Wallace, 18, a resident of South Roxana, was declared deceased at a local hospital following the accident. His passenger, Godfrey resident Jonathan J. Marshal, 18, was taken by air to a St. Louis area hospital. Two media organizations reported on Monday that he, too, died of his injuries.
As authorities now understand it, Wallace was driving a 2001 Kawasaki Motorcycle westbound on Illinois 111. At that point his motorcycle was hit by a 2003 Ford Windstar passenger van, driven by 81 year old Robert L. Heaton, who was proceeding eastbound on Illinois 111 and turning onto northbound Charles Avenue.
There is no word on whether Heaton sustained any injuries.
The accident investigation is ongoing. Toxicology test results have not yet come back. We will have more information on this as it becomes available.
