The Iroquois County Times-Republic is reporting that Melissa Trueblood, 42, died Wednesday night as the result of a two-vehicle accident on Route 49. She was a Schneider, Indiana resident. The Illinois State Police state that the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM. The accident scene was on Illinois Route 49, south of 2400 N Road in Iroquois County.
The ISP’s preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle Trueblood was driving was proceeding southbound on Illinois Route 49 in Iroquois County. At the same time, a vehicle driven by 24 year old Papineau resident Andrew Lesch, was traveling northbound on I-49. For some reason, Trueblood’s vehicle went over the center line, colliding with Lesch’s vehicle, forcing Trueblood’s vehicle to run off the roadway and flip over.
Passengers in both vehicles, including a four year old boy, were received by Riverside Hospital for injuries. Lesch’s condition is not known. Trueblood died at the hospital.
