The RRStar.com is reporting from Loves Park that a woman has died in a car crash caused by a man alleged to be a drunk driver.
Police say the accident happened at approximately 8:20 PM last night at the intersection of North Perryville and Mulford roads in Loves Park.
Authorities say alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the two-vehicle car crash.
When officers arrived at the crash scene they happened upon a severely damaged Toyota Rav 4 and a Cadillac Escalade in the southbound lanes of Perryville Road.
Mary Wymore, a fifty-eight year old resident of Machesney Park, was the driver of the Rav 4. The Winnebago County Coroner said Wymore was declared deceased at the scene.
The Escalade driver tried to escape on foot but was captured by bystanders and secured until police arrived.
Toxicology tests were ordered and the results are pending.
Police say the Escalade driver faces possible charges. There is no word as the identity of the man or whether he was hurt in the accident.
The Illinois State Police and the Loves Park Police Department are continuing to investigate this accident.
