Martin Brouillette Injured in Multiple Semi-truck Crash on I-57 Near West Frankfort

SHARE is reporting from Franklin County that two people were hospitalized as a result of an early morning truck accident on I-57 near West Frankfort.

According to the Illinois State Police, a big-rig driver, 36 year old Morristown, Tennessee resident Michael McGarvey, violently threw his truck to one side to avoid hitting a deer. As the result of that action, his semi-truck overturned in the northbound lane.

Upon that happening, another semi, this one driven by Martin Brouillette, 34, of Trois Rivieres, Newfoundland, Canada, failed to stop in time for the accident and subsequently crashed into the McGarvey’s trailer.

The ISP says the resulting collision spread debris over 100 yards. Brouillette was injured and had to be air-lifted to a hospital. Also hospitalized was his passenger, Josie Anne Bellaire-Robert, 27.

The ISP cited McGarvey for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improperly using a lane.
