The Chicago Sun Times, citing communications with the Chicago Police Department, is reporting on the death of a Lyft passenger and injuries to others in a head-on crash Friday morning. The Lyft driver and another motorist have both been charged with DUI.
The accident happened in the Logan Square neighborhood near Humboldt Park. The time was approximately 3:55 AM.
32-year-old Elizabeth Renter, the Lyft driver in this accident, was charged with driving under the influence of a drug, according to the CPD. She is a resident of Lena.
Police say that Travis Anderson, 25, of Tempe, Arizona, veered across the center line of North Humboldt Boulevard, causing his vehicle to crash head-on into Renter’s’ vehicle. Anderson was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug.
23-year-old Anudari Bayaraa, a passenger in the Lyft vehicle was killed. She was initially taken to Stroger Hospital but was later declared deceased at 4:34 a.m., according to police and authorities with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
In addition to the fatality, a 31-year-old man, whose identity was not released, was received by the Stroger medical facility for his injuries.
Renter was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, while Anderson was taken to Mount Sinai in police custody, authorities said.
