The Northwest Herald, reporting from Marengo, says that a Rockford resident, Ilian Gonzalez, 29, died Saturday as the result of a DUI caused car crash.
Authorities say Gonzalez was a passenger in a Hyundai proceeding westbound on Kishwaukee Valley Road at approximately 7:30 PM on Saturday. The car went off the roadway at South McKinstry Road and collided with a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai was thirty year old Jose Loredo of Rockford. He has been charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, as well as driving under the influence and aggravated driving under the influence. The injuries he sustained are not considered life threatening.
The next court appearance for him is scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident continues to be under investigation.
