The Belleville News Democrat is reporting on the injury of a woman and a child after a semi-truck failed to stop at a stop sign.
The accident occurred at the intersection formed at Exit 30 from I-57 toward I-146 on Wednesday morning at approximately 11:00 AM.
Authorities say Gylian Moore was driving a Scion when the accident happened at the intersection in question. The 35 year old Alto Pass resident and a child in her car were both injured. Both were received by hospitals with serious injuries.
The Union County accident was caused by a Freightliner truck that ran a stop sign. This according to the Illinois State Police. The big rig was driven by 49-year-old Derek Adams, residency unstated. Adams was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign.
It is presumed that the accident investigation is continuing.
