The Homer Glen Patch is reporting from Lockport that three people were hurt in a two vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred on the Ninth Street Bridge in Lockport at approximately 3:30 PM.
According to the Illinois State Police, the accident was between a Toyota Prius and a Hyundai Santa Fe.
The ISP states that the Toyota Prius was proceeding westbound on the Ninth Street Bridge at the same time the Sante Fe was going eastbound. For reasons not yet determined or disclosed, the Toyota went across the center line into the eastbound lane and collided head-on into the Santa Fe.
Dahinda resident Marlene Satunas, 66, was the Toyota driver. She was received by a local hospital with serious injuries, authorities say. The Santa Fe driver, Ewa Konopka, 43, of Romeoville, and a youth were also transported to a hospital with what are termed non-life threatening injuries.
Police have charged Satunas with driving an uninsured motor vehicle, having no valid driver’s license, and improperly using a lane law enforcement said. The crash remains under investigation.
