The Sun Times Media Wire is reporting that Curtis Briggs, 41, of Glenwood, was killed Friday morning when the truck he he was changing a tire for crushed him.
The accident happened on the Tri-State Tollway at approximately 6:15 AM on the northbound side of I-294 near mile marker 4.5 near Hazel Crest.
As the Illinois State Police relates, Briggs has stopped to help a semi-truck that was stranded with a flat tire. The semi-driver had called a service company to change the tire and at that time Briggs was sent out.
At some point while attempting the repair, Briggs was crushed by the semi-truck after a jack slipped. Briggs was received by Ingalls Memorial Hospital where he passed away at 7:26 AM.
It is presumed that the accident investigation is ongoing and we will have more information on this as it is released.
