According to the Herald-Review.com, a husband and wife from Clinton were killed Saturday when their car collided with a semi-truck.
News accounts seem conflicting at this time, however, the Herald-Review quotes the De Witt County Coroner’s Office as saying that the Anthony Hable’s car was proceeding north bound on US 51 when a truck hauling grain was coming in the opposite direction. It is stated that the semi-truck crossed into the northbound lane to proceed south on US 51 from County Road 960N when the accident occurred. It is not clear if the accident was a head-on collision.
The couple was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident. The two are Anthony Hable, 57, and Karen Hable, 56.
The coroner’s office, the Illinois State Police, and the county sheriff’s office continue to investigate this accident.

Update: The Illinois State Police state that Andrew Johnson of Decatur was the truck driver and that he has been charged with failing to stop and for not wearing a seat belt.
