According to the Arlington Heights Patch, 16 year old Alyssa Lendino was killed on Saturday night when a car moving at high speed crashed into her stopped vehicle.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Milwaukee and Hintz Road in Wheeling. The rear-end crash sent Lendino’s vehicle into the intersection where it was then hit by another vehicle.
A total of six people were injured in this multi-vehicle wreck. The time of the accident was approximately two in the afternoon on Saturday.
Lendino, a resident of Mount Prospect, was declared deceased at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The identity of the driver of the speeding vehicle has not been released by the Wheeling Police Department, although it is known that he is in serious condition.
The wreck was so disastrous that firefighters needed to extricate passengers from two of the three cars. No charges have been filed, however, it is presumed that the accident investigation is continuing.
