14 Year Old Bicyclist Mason Schmittling Killed at North Main and State Street in Freeburg


Fox2Now.com is reporting from St. Clair County that fourteen year old Mason Schmittling was killed while cycling across an intersection at North Main Street in Freeburg in St. Clair County. He was in eighth grade.

The child was hit by a SUV on Tuesday at approximately 3:00 PM on Tuesday.

He was received by a local hospital, where he later passed away from his wounds.

The sixteen year old driver of the SUV stayed at the scene of the accident and is said to be cooperating with the investigation which is continuing.

Fox2Now is quoting authorities as saying they are unsure if the SUV driver was distracted at the time of the accident.
